Channeling Positivity with my Paris Lookbook Part 1

I am a naturally smiley person, something I credit my dad for. He is the type of guy who no matter what, has a smile and a positive outlook on life. (He's the annoyingly happy morning person you pretend you don't secretly admire). I remember once when I was approached for a promotion via my Instagram, the brand specifically asked me not to smile. No reasoning, just that they felt I looked better when I wasn't smiling, something I didn't believe at all.
I write all about style and fashion but no matter what, your best accessory is always how you're feeling, your own self confidence, and a smile.

I've had a few things thrown my way recently that haven't had me feeling my normal self and I wanted to be completely transparent with you guys. As some of you may know from reading my previous posts, I am taking a gap year to work on my blog and really try and make this work for me. You all know how much this means to me, so I feel I owe it to myself and all of you to put my all into it this year.
The past couple of months a lot of different things have changed, different people have come in and out my life, and almost all of my friends have gone off to university, something which I am immensely proud of them all for, but I don't half miss them like hell (Jess you know I mean you).
Full time blogging requires you to be at home almost everyday and the breaks you get from this are when you shoot content and when you have events and meetings. I am really wanting to start creating some amazing content for you all, so I am working out at the moment just how I actually want to go about things, and once I figure that out, I know I will start to feel immensely better.

In the midst of all this, I wanted to write this post about channelling positivity when it maybe doesn't feel like thats something you feel you're able to do, because trust me I have been having these thoughts the past few weeks and have started to make myself work around it, and actively change my thinking.

Appreciate what it is you actually already have and the opportunities you have taken.

When I feel down about the work I am doing, mostly as I compare myself to other successful influencers and compare what I am doing to the work and opportunities they have through their work, I reflect on what I have actually brought about for myself. This look was from my recent press trip to Paris, my second press trip invite through my blog. I remember getting the email invite to this event and feeling over the moon, in that moment I couldn't have been happier or prouder that what I have built up and worked for could allow me to have the chance to visit one of the most famous and romantic cities in the world.
Everybody puts themselves down, or compares themselves and subsequently degrades themselves with seeing what they are doing at present as not good enough. I have this all the time, but I have found that looking back on really great opportunities or achievements I have brought about myself has given myself a more positive outlook on myself in general. I have found this also helps give me a little kick up the backside to work towards more exciting achievements and opportunities.

Fill your spare time positively.

I have time in the day when I do my admin work, write or think up blog posts and then I have full days when I am busy such as shooting days or days in London. However, I am one of life's thinkers, and without even intending to do so, whenever I have some free time, my mind wanders and can sometimes be when I start to bring myself down.
Recently I have started going to the gym again for an hour or so everyday, and sometimes booking in on classes if I know I have a spare 30 minutes, I find it takes my mind off everything and at the same time makes me feel good about myself as I am working out more regularly and eventually will start feeling fitter and hopefully a little healthier.
A free hour or so could easily be spent sorting through your room and making things a little more efficient or tidy (I know this is something I will be doing) but it just makes you feel like everything is together if you're not around a mess and if something is on your mind, having a more organised surrounding has a really positive impact on your way of thinking.

Spend some time doing things you have maybe been neglecting to do.

With me, this is visiting my family members more than I currently do. I have every intention of visiting my Grandparents more now I have more free time, along with close family friends and especially now my step sister is having a baby, I know I am going to have some auntie duties to fulfil.
Whether you're still in school and this is to get that piece of work done early to allow yourself some time off in the future as opposed to leaving it all to be done last minute, or tidying your room for your parents sake (sorry mum I know I have fallen for this one many times). You'll feel like you've accomplished something, no matter how small and it'll make you feel good, I promise.

This doesn't have to be in the form of exercise, it could be taking an hour every day or so to catch up on a series you've been loving, or going for a walk or a drive or catching up on the phone with someone you haven't spoken to for a while. It doesn't have to be set in stone, but having something or a few options of ways to occupy yourself when you know you're heading towards feeling down, then you have the ability to not let it happen.

Feeling happy all the time is something that most people aren't able to do, myself included. There are events in everyones lives that warrant feeling low, but its how you choose to let yourself feel when things are thrown your way you can do something about. The majority of situations we sit and dwell on are ones we ourselves can most likely do something about. That guys being an arse? Give him a kick up it. You've had an argument with someone? Talk it out, make it better. Something you really wanted has fallen through? Tell yourself its just given way to something even better.

I remember reading somewhere that some fancy pancy research had been done somewhere and that the act of smiling itself releases endorphins that actually trigger happy emotions, so it would seem smiling itself may be the simplest way of making yourself better. Finding a reason to smile, no matter how great or insignificant the reason may be, there will always be something positive you can focus on to make yourself feel better.

Right now, I am trying my very best to focus on the positives. If things aren't coming my way, I need to actively sought them out. No one, or at least the majority of people don't get everything they want handed to them on a plate, and frankly the feeling of working and getting what you want no matter how big or small that may be, evokes one of the best feelings. Self empowerment.

I hope you enjoyed this post, I would really love your favourite ways to stay positive or how you best cheer yourself up when you know you're feeling down.
