Belated Mothers Day - Afternoon Tea with Watchshop

Last week, I took my lovely mother for a belated mothers day out. She is extremely busy so we managed to finally find some time that I could take her out for an afternoon. There were a lot of options for afternoon tea, but there was one place I knew would be able to provide something extra special. Cloud 23 is a bar at the top of the Hilton Hotel in Manchester on Deansgate. The bar is on the 23rd floor and they have the most beautiful view of the city of Manchester. I have never seen anything like it before and it was absolutely wonderful. The perfect setting!

We went for the champagne afternoon tea (of course!) and it came with a glass of fizz and 3 layers of afternoon tea. The first layer was the savoury bites, they were some of the best (and cutest) sandwiches I have ever eaten!
As we waited for our afternoon tea to arrive, I knew I had made the right choice of where we should come for this special occasion, we sat and took in the beautiful 360 degree views of Manchester City Centre. It was really nice to see the city from a completely different angle, I am always walking between spots in the city, and it was really interesting how difficult it was to spot areas you visit all the time from above, and how much closer they seemed to be to one another!

We were given out afternoon tea and it was amazing how perfectly formed everything was! The savoury layer was my absolutely favourite, it consisted of a parma ham pastry swirl, three different types of sandwiches (cheese and chive, tuna and pastrami ham) and then a surprisingly nice carrot and humous wrap.
The desert layer was just as yummy, there was a chocolate and orange cake (so so good!) a lemon jelly trifle and a cherry Bakewell tart. Its surprising how filling all these little bits are let me tell you! I managed to have a bite of each as I knew I wanted to save myself for my favourite layer of all... scones! I don't have scones very often at all but they are one of my all time favourite deserts, this scone was one of the freshest I have ever had, it had pieces of pineapple within it and it was probably one of the best scones I have ever had! Alongside plenty of jam and cream too, a definite must!

We had such a lovely time at afternoon tea at Cloud 23, it is always really lovely just spending time with my mum, she's always been a really busy lady and a very hard worker and of course that is something I admire very much, but its not always easy to do things together, especially now I am much more busy myself! Its really lovely when we are able to spend quality time together, and with champagne and good food its always going to be a lovely time. Valuing time with those you love it so important and trying to spend time with the people closest to you is one of the best ways you can spend your time, even if its once a month you make sure you're able to get together and appreciate each others company.

I can't wait to do something like this again with my mum as I value times like this more than anything, and I most definitely need to go back to Cloud 23 again, its one of the most beautiful bars in Manchester. I highly recommend it as a place to take your mum, grandma, auntie or even go with a friend, its a really wonderful experience (with unlimited cups of tea!)

I hope you enjoyed this post, do let me know what you'd like to see soon! I am hoping to shoot some youtube videos in the next week or so, so please do comment below anything you'd like to see!

This post was in collaboration with Mum's on The Go campaign!
